What is Design/Build?
So what does Design/Build mean, and why should you care? Well, from the perspective of a church in the market for a new audio, video or lighting system, we think you’ll really appreciate it once you understand it.
In the traditional construction process, a client hires an architect or engineer to design a building, and then the client finds a contractor who will (hopefully) work well with the architect to make sure the client gets what they wanted. It usually works the same way in the world of audio, video, and lighting systems, too.
Granted, there are some very smart and experienced A/V/L consultants who design systems for the church, and there integrators who are very skilled at bringing those designs to life. This method has worked well for many years and continues to work well, but Church Audio Video was born out of the idea that there is really a better way.
Design/Build is a project delivery method that we borrowed from the construction industry and applied towards audio, video and lighting systems integration. With Design/Build, one entity (us) forges a single contract with the owner (you) to provide both design service and installation service. We use the Design/Build method because we believe it offers some significant benefits over the traditional way projects are completed.
When your Designer and your Builder are the same business entity:
- You’ll have clearer communication about what you want and how to get it.
- You’ll usually complete the project more quickly.
- If changes are required along the way, it’s much easier to implement them.
- You get to be involved to the extent that you want to be.
- Perhaps most importantly, you’ll save money, and you’ll be able to use those savings for other important ministry needs.
